It was the ideal morning for a hike in the mountains. Brisk air, piney scent, earthy quiet. I inhaled, exhaled, soaked it all up. Exactly what my heart and mind needed. Within minutes, however, a honking skein of geese interrupted the silence.
I stopped walking, and looked up. Held my breath and watched. Few things fascinate me like geese. They’re confident, destination focused, rhythmic in the way they live and work. Without rush or panic, they do what they were made to do, day in and day out. What fascinates me most about geese, however, is none of those things. Instead, this:
A commitment to formation.
They know a powerful secret. The best way to travel great distances is to do it together.
The same secret works for you and me. We can accomplish a certain measure of success in isolation, rolling up our sleeves and working hard to dream and achieve. But sooner or later we hit a plateau, a roadblock, a decision we don’t know the answer to. Or maybe we just run out of time. Discouraged, we desperately wish we had a friend to help us find our way.
As women, we face unique challenges at home and in the workplace. Not better or worse, just different.
For most of us, juggling our “competing” roles often leaves us frustrated. We don’t have enough time or resources to meet the demands of our daily responsibilities. Our desire to “do more,” “be more,” comes from a good place, but we’re buried by the urgency of day-to-day tasks. As a result, we end up a hostage to our to-do list, with little time leftover to explore our personal identity, purpose and potential influence.
Even worse? We can’t escape the nagging fear that we’re doing it “wrong.” Every day we face complex choices, and it’s tough to know when to say “yes” and when to definitively say “no.” Thus, as a wife, a mom, a daughter, friend, we dread we might make the wrong choice, pick the wrong person, pass up the wrong opportunity. Too often, we make an impulsive decision we later regret or no decision at all.
Add to all this a sense of isolation and aloneness. In spite of various relationships and connections, we suspect we’re the only one who battles to find the right balance.
Let me resolve a bit of the angst right now:
You’re not alone.
Almost daily I hear from women just like you who want to leverage their gifts and talents to the best of their ability, to live out their faith and influence their world in a positive way. But they don’t know where to begin.
What these women need is a trusted mentor, someone who’s “been there, done that” and can help them navigate tension. Focused, destination-focused GROUP coaching in the context of dedicated, like-minded peers can make the difference between staying stuck in one place and being able to fly wherever you want to go.
Sound like a dream come true? That’s why…
In 2017 I launched the Inspired Life Mastermind.
Simply, the Inspired Life Mastermind is a faith-based mastermind for women in business who want to enjoy life and expand their influence—at home, at work, and in relationships—to the best of their ability and to the glory of God.
First, a little background …
When I was about 28 years old, I worked in sales at a national telecom company. It was a rewarding, often-challenging job. I loved it. I must’ve thrived because after little more than a year, my boss offered me the lead manager position. I was stunned. And thrilled. What an opportunity!
However, there was one significant problem. At the time, I was a single mom of a toddler (he wasn’t the problem). This new role would require regular travel and I didn’t want my son to be in constant childcare. On the other hand, it would provide a sizable boost in income and opportunity, both of which I needed. The decision ended up being one of the most agonizing of my life. Without someone to help me navigate the pros and cons or to brainstorm this complicated decision, I was stuck. Thus, afraid to do the wrong thing, I did nothing. I turned the promotion down.
That was a unique situation, and I don’t regret my decision. Still, I’ve experienced similar angst in my career many times over in the two decades since. I’ve now been married for nearly 16 years and have a total of 6 children. I’ve been a corporate employee, entrepreneur, work-at-home mom, and small business owner three times over. In spite of the appearances of “success,” however, I often felt like I was failing—or, at the least, not getting it right.
All this to say, I’ve been there, up to my neck in the tension, losing sleep while wondering if I was failing everything that truly mattered to me.
Through all this, you know what I learned? We can’t do it alone. We need each other.
That’s why the Inspired Life Mastermind is one of my top priorities.
This group consists of women in similar, yet different seasons of life who are fully committed to increase their influence, forge strong relationships and invest in themselves and others. During each ILM Session, we focus our efforts on three core areas:
(1) Personal Development,
(2) Business Growth, and
(3) Relational Health.
Because I know I can accomplish nothing in my own power, FAITH will be the foundational principle as we tackle each of these three areas of growth.
Practically speaking, we will accomplish this mission by providing:
• Coaching sessions with a small, dedicated circle of like-minded women
• A face-to-face gathering to develop and execute steps toward short and long-term goals
• Group collaboration with the aim of developing an integrated approach to thriving in a woman’s unique place in family, relationships and work
• Guidance by Michele and a few other select expert voices
• Key resources to help each individual develop and implement a strategy to fulfill her mission at home, work, and in her community and church.
Before I go any further, however, I need to warn you: This is a paid, high-level mastermind. It’s intense. And it’s not for everyone. Let me explain.
I’ve now been coaching for a decade. For the vast majority of that time, I did it for free. Literally, I mentored hundreds of clients for no more than a cup of coffee. And I was honored to do so.
Then a few years ago I started charging for my consulting services. It was one of the hardest professional decisions I’ve ever made, as it seemed contrary to my heart to serve. Which is why I was floored when I noticed a dramatic and instant change:
Those who paid for coaching demonstrated dramatic results. Their relationships deepened, their speaking presentations sang, their businesses grew, their brands soared.
All because they were financially invested.
Here’s the truth: We often disregard and dismiss what we don’t pay for. However, when we’re financially invested, we have skin in the game. Thus, our level of commitment and transformation is significantly higher.
Thus the reason the Inspired Life Mastermind will require a significant financial investment. I want you to be deeply committed to the group’s mission, to each other, and most importantly, to yourself. You should also know that a big chunk of those finances will be reinvested in Hope House of Colorado, a local organization that empowers parenting teenage moms to strive for personal and economic self-sufficiency. In other words, we’ll be directly supporting the mentoring of young women in personal development, business growth and relational health. I couldn’t be more excited.
The Inspired Life Mastermind will be offered twice in 2018:
Spring Session: January 1 through May 15, 2018
